The City’s Shop Longmont campaign was a big success with more than 30 local businesses participating in "You (and Your Money) Belong in Longmont" promotion during the holiday shopping season.
The campaign encouraged shoppers to clip a coupon from local publications, shop at participating Longmont businesses, spend $15 and receive a free canvas tote bag. Although the numbers are not precise, it’s estimated that close to 1,000 totes were distributed by Longmont businesses.
The campaign was an effort by the City of Longmont to encourage residents to shop locally and also to educate the public about the importance of local sales tax. And although the holiday shopping season is over, the shop Longmont message is still very relevant.
